Equiplus, a Tanzanian water infrastructure company, is currently piloting MacR6 N data loggers across 14 remote water distribution points in partnership with Plum Sp. z o.o. The goal: deliver reliable flow and pressure monitoring where LTE-M or NB-IoT networks are unavailable, and only intermittent 2G coverage exists.
the challenge
& the solution
The MacR6 N system is proving resilient in harsh, low-connectivity environments. Its onboard data buffering ensures no records are lost during network outages, while real-time alarms and tamper detection improve operational security. Field configuration via NFC and GSM minimizes the need for site visits, reducing costs and response times.
Through the intuitive eWebtel platform, the utility gains instant visibility into network performance, historical trends, and critical events, enabling faster decision-making. This pilot confirms that advanced smart water monitoring is achievable even in challenging, resource-limited environments.

& results
14 remote sites were equipped with MacR6 N data loggers, continuously monitoring flow and pressure. Despite limited 2G coverage, data was reliably transmitted to eWebtel, where real-time trends and alarms enabled rapid responses. Immediate alerts for leaks, pressure anomalies, or tampering reduced field visits and potential water losses. Early results confirm MacR6 N delivers secure, continuous monitoring in even the toughest conditions.

into decisions
The pilot project in Tanzania demonstrates that robust, low-power data logging combined with intelligent buffering and secure communication can deliver reliable remote monitoring – even in infrastructure-limited environments. Through collaboration between Equiplus and Plum Sp. z o.o., the MacR6 N solution successfully proved its performance in real-world, high-risk conditions.
This pilot establishes a strong foundation for scaling remote water monitoring systems across similar regions worldwide.
The MacR6 N data loggers have demonstrated high resilience in low-connectivity environments, maintaining near-zero data loss through reliable onboard buffering and automatic backlog synchronization over unstable 2G networks. Integrated with the eWebtel platform, they enable real-time, data-driven monitoring, rapid anomaly detection, and effective management of flow irregularities – significantly enhancing NRW control. The solution is robust, scalable, and well-suited for wider deployment across Sub-Saharan utilities.
